Wilma May Mims Russell, 77 of Whigham, GA passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 surrounded by her family, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday October 6, 2022 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel (6972 FL/GA Hwy. Havana, FL 32333) with Pastors Kenneth Cloud and Pastor Glen Scoggin III officiating the service. Serving as Pallbearers Jay Bentley, James Knight, Eddy Mims, Brennan Louderback, Wayne Shoulders and Terance Collins. Interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. at Tallahassee National Cemetery (5015 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311)

Born in Tallahassee, FL. Attended Fort Braden and Lively School. She was married in Tallahassee, FL July 13, 1963, She married a soldier and traveled to several foreign countries.
She became the mother of 4 beautiful daughters. In 1970 after 8 ½ years of service the family returned to Tallahassee where her husband started a new career as a truck driver after leaving the army. She stayed home raising the girls and enjoyed being a cake decorator and was a school bus driver for Grace Baptist Christian School. In 1981 the family moved to Corpus Christi, TX where she taught sewing in a Christian school, In 1987 the family returned to Tallahassee where her husband became the director of The Lighthouse Children’s Home where she wore many hats as dorm mother to 28 girls and was in charge of the dining room, taught the young ladies how to cook and sew.

She then lived in South Georgia from 1995, spending most of her in Whigham, Georgia. She was a very faithful member of Hilltop Bible Baptist Church where she made many friends, She was a faithful loving wife , mother and grandmother. After surviving a stroke, for the next 11 ½ years she experienced permanent disabilities. As a Christian she demonstrated to everyone she knew, her friends and family, love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness and faith Gal 5:22 up to her last breath.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years John C. Russell, her children Anna Louderback (husband Gordon); Mary Bishop (husband Brandent) and Terri Russell. Her grandchildren include Aleya Louderback, Brenhan Louderback, Nick Cadwell, Jon Wright and Lisa Wright. Her brothers and sisters Eddy Mims (wife Beth); Noah Mims (wife Jannette), James Mims, Buddy Mims (wife Barbara) Luci Powell (husband Woody),  Sister-n-laws : Ann Mims and Julie Mims. Brother-n-laws Phil Duval and Amos Taylor.

She is preceded in death by, her daughter Jacquline Russell Williams, Grandchildren, Salina Lindley. and her sisters and brothers Gene Mims, Charles Mims, Linda Duval and Rita Taylor.
