Obituary

John W. Russell, 90, of Havana Fl, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, at his home. A faithful follower of Christ, Jack was comforted in the promise that his eternity was secure through the grace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jack was born February 19, 1932, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents Irving and Mildred E. Russell, his brothers Robert Russell and Stuart Russell, and his son Michael J. Russell.

Jack enlisted for active duty in the United States Navy and served for 2 years followed by attending the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. After holding a position with A.C. Nielsen Company, Jack built his own marketing research company, which ultimately allowed him to retire at a very young age. This would begin 38 years of travels and adventures with his loving wife, Yvonne. Jack was always interested in adventures and lived in more than 6 different states over the years to experience living on a boat, raising horses, farming, helping family members in need, sailing, canoeing, and exploring new areas. From boating throughout the eastern seaboard, to horse country in Tennessee, Jack often stated he had no regrets that he "should have" done something. If he thought it up, he did it.
A member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Russell was a devoted follower of Christ since accepting God's grace while in his horse pasture in Tennessee. He spent the next 35 years spreading the gospel through his service to others that included jail ministries, meals-on-wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Hurricane relief work, and teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School classes. His joy and passion was ministering to others through God's Word.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Yvonne M. Russell, his son Doug (wife Karen) Russell, daughter Laura (husband Kenneth) Carter; grandchildren, Justin (wife Megan) Beall, Ian Russell, and Mary Grace Beall; and great grandchildren, Calvin, Connor, and Henley Beall.
Jack (dad) will be missed dearly but we will always cherish the many adventures, teachings, love, and support that he provided to his family. While there will be no service, donations may be made to The Gideons, International ( gideons.org ), or to your favorite charitable organization. Jack strongly believed that we are here to help one another.
