Dorothy Bowen, 100 of Tallahassee (formerly of Havana) passed away on July 2, 2020 at Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee, FL.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana. A private interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
( All CDC guidelines will be observed. ) The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M.
Dorothy Bowen was born August 6, 1919 in Calvary, GA the daughter of the late Council Herring Maxwell and the late Catherine Maxwell. She graduated in 1939 from Georgia State College for Women, Milledgeville, Ga. with a degree in math. She taught math until she married the late Raymond J. Bowen in 1942. She later worked for the U. S. Postal Service for 27 years. She was a very talented seamstress; loved to work in the yard, and play Bridge with other ladies.
She is survived by daughter Ramona Bowen Pfeffer (husband Jim) of Slidell LA. Her grandchildren: Carrie Worth Woods (Doug) Navarre Florida; Matt Pfeffer (Jae) California , Maryland; Jenny Worth, Long Beach California; Dr. Amanda Pfeffer Morgan (Kent) Cantonment, Florida and Stephanie Worth. Great-grandchildren Ashley Allen, Skylar Woods, Brody Woods, Ella Pfeffer, Anna Morgan, Lily Morgan and Dominic Paiva.
She is preceded in death by her husband and two daughter Dorothy Kay Bowen and Sylvia Bowen Worth.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Florida United Methodist Children's Home.
