Biography

Mrs. Wylene Walsh Smith, 83, of Havana passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Smith's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Havana. The internment will follow at Vicker's Cemetery in Havana. Family will receive friends Friday, April 17th from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Faith Funeral Home in Havana (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com ) If desired, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL. 32308.
Mrs Wylene was a lifetime resident of Gadsden County. She retired from The Florida Department of Highway Safety in Tallahassee. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and well known in her community for her wonderful fruit cakes and pound cakes. She enjoyed both cooking and sharing them. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
She is survived by her husband Collis Smith of Havana, one daughter Diane Henry (and husband Donivan) of Tallahassee; two sons Eddie Bass, Jr. (and wife Karen) of Havana and Calvin Smith (and wife June) of Hagerstown, MD. Seven grandchildren: Barbra Whiddon; Thomas Henry; Mary Henry; Eddie Bass III; Amy Bass Powell; James Smith; and William Smith. Two great-grandchildren; Kinleigh Bass and Eddie Bass IV.
She was preceded in death by her brother Dural Walsh.

The Smith family would like to extend a special thanks to Big Bend Hospice for the kind and compassionate care provided to their mother.
