Biography

William (Bill) Marvin Miller, 85, of Havana, FL, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Salem United Methodist Church in Havana, with Pastor Bill Bess and Reverend Alyce Parmer officiating. A private family interment will be at Shelfer Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Faith Funeral Home (850.539.4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com). Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 202 East Ninth Ave. Havana, FL 32333.

Mr. Miller was born July 20, 1927, in Havana, FL, the son of Marvin Webster Miller and Thelma Long Miller. He was a life-long resident of Havana , attended school there and graduated from Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy and then attended Maryville College in Tennessee. He attended Dealership School in Detroit and in 1950 returned to Havana, where he started his long career at Miller Chevrolet along with his brother, Bob. He continued to work there until his retirement in 1986.

He was an active member in the community, having served on the Havana Town Council; Board of Directors for the Havana State Bank and Capital City Bank for 51 years; member of the Seminole Boosters Board of Directors in the late 70's; past president of the Kiwanis Club and member and Board member of the Havana Golf and Country Club. He was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Mr. Miller enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, FSU football and meeting his friends at the coffee shop. He especially enjoyed spending time at the river property with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Mrs. Jean H. Miller of Havana; one daughter, Nancy Miller Roberts (and husband Roy) of Pensacola; three grandsons, Roy A. Roberts (and wife Wendy) of Pensacola; Will Roberts (and wife Sydnee) of Fairhope, AL; and Matt Roberts of Pensacola; five great- grandchildren, Kaysi, Kaitlyn, Miller, Mary Katherine, and Liam; two brothers, Bob Miller( and wife Jan) and Dan Miller ( and wife Carol) all of Havana; one sister, Margaret Doll of Havana; a special sister-in-law, Ann Moreland of Havana; a host of nieces and nephews; two special caregivers, Mazelene Golden and Lillie Christie and his beloved dachshund, Toby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dorothy Cora Gregory.
