Wallace Shelfer

Perry Wallace 'W.P." Shelfer 93, of Havana died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in Tallahassee after a lenghy illness. The graveside funeral service will be at 10:00a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 Shelfer Cemetery in Havana. Family will recieve friends at the Shelfer home Thursday evening from 6 till 8 p.m. Faith Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
Born Oct 30, 1912, he was a native of Havana. After his service in the Air Force, He purchased the Shelfer Family Farm. In 1940 he began growing shade tobacco, cattle and developing Shelfer Wholesale nursery. He was very active in the community. Mr. Shelfer served on the Gadsden County School Board, was a member of Farm Buraeu, a Mason and a member of Havana Kiwanis Club. In 1950 he was elected to the Talquin Electric Cooperative Board of directors and served for 44 years. He served as the Florida director of the National Rural Electric Company for 22 years. He was president of Seminole Electric in Tampa for three years and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Havana.
Survivors include a son Randy Shelfer of Havana; a daughter Suzanne (and husband Craig) of Winter Park; two grandchildren Blair and Brant DeLongy of Winter Park. Mr. Shelfer was preceded in death earlier this year by his wife Edith Shelfer.
