Virginia "Maydell" Hood, 93 passed away on Monday September 07, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

A very loving and caring mother, very devoted grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, great grand children and great great grandchildren. She loved fiercely, gave generously and always made sure those around her felt cared for and cherished. Her home, her arms and her heart were always open.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, strength and beauty that will live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will remain forever in the hearts of those she held so dear.

She is survived by her children; Lamar Hood, James Hood (Merilda) Betty Swain (Mark), Eddie Hood, Joyce Hawkins (Jeff), Janice Clark (John), Doyle Hood, Dewayne Hood and Pamela Hood. Her grandchildren; Anthony Hood (Jessica) Sterling Hood (Karen), Ashley Hood, Michael Hood (Angela), Lauren Clack (Travis), Jonathan Hood (Courtney) Morgan Hood, Layklen Hood, Jeffrey Hawkins ( Marcy), Jack Clark, Evie Van Rijs (Scott), Kristopher Hood (Lindsay), Jordan Hood, Timmy Hood, Austin Gilbert, Angel and Alaina.

Her great grandchildren; Brantley Hood, Tanner Hood, Kaitlyn Hood, Camden Clack, Cutter Hood, Penelope Hood, Cora Mae Hood, Monroe Hawkins, Graceyn Hawkins, Oaklynn Hawkins, Kinleigh Williams, Luke Van Rijs, Lincoln Van Rijs, Weston Hood and Brenley Hood. Great great grandchildren; Easton, Charlie, Chayson and Waylon.

She is preceded in death by her husband Fred Hood, granddaughter Jenny Hood, daughter in law Beth Hood and son Darryl Hood.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 11, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Faith Funeral Home, located at 6972 Florida/Georgia Hwy, Havana, Fl. The funeral service will be held on Saturday September 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church located at Old 179 S, Calvary, Ga. 39829 with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, Florida.
