T.W. Touchton

Biography

Theron William Touchton, 94, of Havana, passed away Sunday night, January 13, 2013. T.W. was born November 17, 1918, in Hahira, Georgia. He joined the U.S. Army in 1939 and served in the 289th Infantry, Company E.attached to the 101st Airborne. He reached the rank of 1st Sergeant where he served his country in World War II. He received the Bronze Star Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Purple Heart.

He married Opal in 1942, and moved to Havana in 1945 where he began a 27 year career as a tobacco farmer.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Opal; son, David Touchton (Susan); grandson, Brad Touchton (Gaye) and children, Amanda, Blake and Davy; grandson, Duke Touchton (Greyson) and daughter, Hannah; granddaughter, Evie Peacock (Jessie); brother-in-law, Bill Ray Hitson (Martha) and sister-in-law, Joy Lenamon (J.B.).

He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Touchton.

The visitation will be on Thursday, January 17, 2013, from 5:00 p.m.- 6:00p.m. at Faith Funeral Home Chapel with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
