Mr. Martin was born on October 9, 1958, in Gainesville, Florida. The son of the late Guy Martin and the late Sadie (Sue) Porter Martin.

He is survived by his son Timothy Michael Martin, his two brothers, Andy Martin and Fred Martin; and two sisters, Susan Lewis and Teresa Martin.
