Thomas Roland Wilcox, Sr. 86 passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Roland was born on March 14, 1939, in DeFuniak Springs, FL, to Coy Lee and Cora Lee Wilcox, who proceeded him in death.
Roland married Kathy Ventry Wilcox on Aug. 2, 1959. They enjoyed (almost) 66 years of marriage. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for 64 years.
Roland was an Accountant for the State of Florida. He retired after 30 years of service. During his retirement he spent time working in his garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. Fishing on Lake Talquin, Ochlocknee River, and Lake Frances behind his home was his favorite pass time. Hosting fish fries brought him much joy and he always had fish on hand to share with friends.
Years earlier he raised hogs for Frosty Morn in Quincy, and enjoyed raising chickens and riding horses.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Wilcox, children Lynn Kimmel (Tom) of Whigham, GA, Thomas Wilcox of Havana, FL, grandchildren; Dallas Wilcox (DeeDee) of Cairo, GA, Sara Persing (Warren) of Dawsonville, GA; Coleman Wilcox (Savannah) of Whigham, Ga; Carley Wilcox of Athens, GA. Great grandchildren; Anna Belle Wilcox, Jackson Wilcox, Cohen Heady, Taylor Persing and Allie Persing. One sister Faye Zetien (Zeke) of Gainesville, Florida. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sisters, Helen Merritt and Mae Perkins.
