Biography

Shirley Vickers Leonard, 75, of Havana passed away January 26,2012 at her home after battling an extended illness.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Concord Cemetery in Havana with Jeff Vickers officiating. Family will receive friends Friday, January 27, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Faith Funeral Home in Havana (850.539.4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com )

Mrs. Shirley was born April 17, 1936, She is the daughter of the late Sam and Isola Vickers, life- long resident of Havana, 1954 graduate of Havana High School and member of First Presbyterian Church of Havana. After retiring as an administrator from the Department of Labor, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and taking care of her family.

Survivors: daughter, Sharmin Leonard; grandchildren, Caitlin and Carson Ray; brother, Don (Shirley) Vickers; sisters Deborah (David) Coury and Rhonda (Mark) McEwen; and a host of very special nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Charles Leonard, with whom she shared her passion for the outdoors, for 47 wonderful years .

The family wants to express a heartfelt "Thanks" to special caregivers: Wendy, Ida, Mary, Joyce, Shirley and the entire staff of Big Bend Hospice .
