Sara Lee (Sue) Boynton Spencer, 87, a homemaker, died March 17, 2007 at home. Graveside funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, March 20, at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee. Family will receive friends at her home, 2001 Sara Lee Lane, from 4 to 6 P.M. on Sunday, March 18, 2007. Faith Funeral Home in Havana, (850) 539-4300, is handling arrangements. Guests may sign the guest register at www.faithfuneralhome.com. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may make them to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
Mrs. Spencer was raised in Havana, Fl, the daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Boynton, Sr. She cut short her stint at Florida College for Women to marry Clyde Edward Spencer and dedicated her life to being a homemaker, wife and mother of four. Her homes, whether Betton Hills, Alligator Point or Ox Bottom Road were her center and open to friends of the couple and their children over the years. Nature and gardening were her passion; bridge, traveling and shopping were her hobbies.
She is survived by her four children, Sandra Spencer Miller, Eddie Spencer (and wife Paula), Phillip Spencer all of Tallahassee, and Patricia Spencer of Deland; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; her sister Betty Lou Shelfer (Mrs. Fred Shelfer) and sister-in-law Sue Chaires Boynton (Mrs W. J. Boynton Jr.).
The family would like to extend special thanks to Shirley Holsey and Big Bend Hospice as well as Dr. Jesse L. Judelle, M. D., and his staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr and Mrs W. J. Boynton, Sr; her brother, W. J. (Bill) Boynton, Jr; brother-in-law Fred Shelfer; granddaughter Staten Spencer and her husband Clyde Edward Spencer, who died September 19, 2005, one day short of their 66th wedding anniversary.
