Russell "Rusty" Rodgers

August 14, 1960 — November 23, 2011

Biography

Russell Alan "Rusty" Rodgers 51 of Havana FL. passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He was born on August 14, 1960 in Marianna, FL. He was the first child born to his loving parents, Russell M. and Janice D. Rodgers.

Rusty grew up in the Chattahoochee, FL with his two brothers, Robin and Ryan. Growing up in a small tight-knit community, it was here Rusty discovered many of his life passions. Rusty and his brothers shared fond memories of long days at their grandfather's farm, their grandfather's store, family camping trips, fishing, hunting, and most of all playing music. He shared his love for music with his father and brothers, and they played music together on every occasion possible.

Rusty went on to marry his wife of 21 years, Tracy, with whom he raised his two beautiful daughters, Amber and Caitlyn. Two years ago Rusty was blessed with his first grandchild, Elijah "Eli" Rodgers. Eli was the apple of his eye, and he always bragged to friends and family about how Eli was going to become a guitar player like his "Papa"

Rusty was a hard worker and a true friend, brother, son, husband, father and grandfather. He was known for his unfailing sense of humor and his ability to make anyone crack a smile, no matter what was going on in their life. Anyone who knew Rusty would be quick to say he was the kindest, most giving person they knew, and he never wanted anything in return. Above all, Rusty cherished his family, and the happiness his family brought him was apparent in every way.

Rusty was the example to his friends and family of what it means to be truly happy and selfless. As long as he had his family, his music and his healthy sense of humor, he could not ask for anything better.

Rusty is survived by his wife Tracy, daughters Amber and Caitlyn; grandson Eli; parents Russell and Janice Rodges; brothers Robin Rodgers (wife LeeAnn) and Ryan Rodgers (wife Megan) Mother-in-law Betty Hall; nieces Lindsey K. Rodgers and Camille Rodgers; nephews Kyle Rodgers and Nolan Rodgers; as well as ten cousins, two aunts and two uncles. He will be greatly missed by not only his family, but also by his friends and his community.

A memorial service of Rusty's life will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Faceville Baptist Church, Faceville, GA. (2109 Faceville / Attapulgus Rd Bainbridge, GA 39819) with Reverend Robert Johns officiating the service.
