Ronald (Ron) Lee Evans, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 8, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 7, 1941, to Leroy Evans and Roberta Hays-Rodgers in Brunswick, Georgia.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Walt Rogers. He is survived by his three childr
en, Anthony Leroy Evans, Jennifer Brooke Evans, Ronda Leigh Yawn (husband Jason) two grandchildren Jaxon Yawn and Makenzie Yawn, and several cousins.
After high school, he served three years as a Radarman in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid (CV-11) followed by another three years as a reserve. After his time in the Navy, he found a career in the food industry and worked as a restaurant manager for S & S Cafeterias. His career required him to move around often, and he lived in places like Virginia, South Carolina, and Tennessee before he finally settled outside Savannah, Georgia. In September 2024, he relocated to Havana, Florida to be closer to family.
Those who knew Ron will remember his strong work ethic and love for all things NFL football, especially his all-time favorite team, the Miami Dolphins. When he wasn’t watching NFL football, some of his memorable pastimes consisted of gunsmithing and shooting for fun. It also was not uncommon to hear him quote lines from some of his favorite films, like Aliens and Tombstone.
No public services will be planned. The family will gather privately at a later date to place his ashes around his mother’s grave in Macon, Georgia, a wish of his for many, many years.
