Roberta "Rooster" Jones, of Havana, Florida, passed away peacefully in Tallahassee, Florida, on July 3, 2026, at the age of 74, just days before her 75th birthday. Born on July 10, 1951, Roberta lived a life marked by hard work, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family, friends, and animals.
Roberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She truly never met a stranger. Her welcoming smile, caring nature, and genuine interest in others made people feel valued and appreciated. She had a gift for making friends wherever she went and leaves behind countless cherished memories with those whose lives she touched.
Throughout her career, Roberta was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She worked for Coastal Lumber Company, McDaniel Trucking, the Florida Governor's Office, and later the Florida Department of Transportation, from which she retired after many years of faithful service.
Family was the center of Roberta's life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Norman Gene Rivenbark ; her son, Marcus Scott Barber ( wife Alicia), and her cherished granddaughters, Kayla (husband Tyler) and Paige. She is also survived by her brothers, Perry Barber (wife Donna) and William Barber (wife Christy)
Through her marriage to Norman, Roberta was a devoted stepmother to Shane Rivenbark (wife Felicia) and Jeffery Rivenbark (wife Jessica) She dearly loved her extended family, including Shane and Felicia's children, Lance, Dustin, and Rebecca, along with their five grandchildren, and Jeffery and Jessica's children, Avery and Logan.
Roberta found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved gardening, spending countless hours nurturing flowers and plants and creating beauty wherever she lived. She also enjoyed shopping, whether searching for a special treasure or finding the perfect gift for someone she loved. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with family and friends.
A passionate lover of all animals, Roberta's heart was as big as her smile. She showed kindness to every animal she encountered and found comfort and happiness in their companionship. Her compassion for all living creatures reflected the gentle and caring person she was.
Those who knew Roberta will remember her as a woman of strength, generosity, and unconditional love. Her legacy lives on through the family she adored, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11am at Faith Funeral Home in Havana, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to an animal charity of your choice in honor of Roberta's lifelong love and compassion for animals.
While her passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, they find comfort in knowing that her love, wisdom, and caring spirit will remain with them always.
Roberta will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
