Robert (Bob) Adams Jr, 84, of Havana Florida, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 29 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Mr. Adams was born in Jacksonville Florida on April 1, 1927 to Robert and Margaret Adams. The oldest of four children, David, Ann and Helen, both sisters still reside in the Jacksonville area. His younger brother David, died in 2010 after a prolonged bout with cancer.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathryn, son David of Monticello Florida, daughters Margaret Nour of Havana, Florida, Susan Shebel of Duck Key, Florida and Andrea Okkerse of Tampa, Florida. His oldest son Robert III (Beau) died in 2009. In addition, Mr. Adams is survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Adams left Jacksonville and attended college at Emory University. During the World War II, he served two years in the Merchant Marines and then pursued a career as a chemist, working for various companies in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1983 he founded Specialty Chemical Manufacturing where he worked until his retirement in 1998.

Bob was fond of gardening and fishing and spent his final years tending to his farm in Havana and fishing the bridge at St. George Island. Known by all for his generosity toward others, he supported and sponsored many a friend and co worker during their time of need.

A Celebration of his Life will be from 3 until 5:00pm, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana. ( 850.539.4300 or ) Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
