Patti Lynn Poppell

Patti Lynn Poppell, 64, of Thomasville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Big Bend Hospice First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care at TMH.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2024 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana, with Father Will Brown officiating the service.  Dress is casual.  Family will receive friends immediately after the service. A private family interment will be held at Shelfer Cemetery in Havana.

Patti was born April 3, 1960 in Quincy, Florida. The daughter of Clyde "Bubba" Poppell and Patsy Fischer Poppell. Patti grew up in Havana, Florida, the sixth generation of the Nathan Shelfer family. She attended Havana High School and later graduated as an honor student at Bainbridge High School in 1978. She also participated in Government Honors and Georgia State Honors Band.

Patti graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Administration. She worked as a Paralegal in a number of law firms in Atlanta and Tallahassee. She later graduated from Florida State University with her Masters Degree in Information Services. She retired after 25 years of loyal service at Leon County Courthouse in the County Attorney’s office.

Patti had many interests in life. She was a devoted and faithful member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Thomasville. She was active in the Church Choir, Alter Guild, and as a lay Reader. She loved and enjoyed Music, Duplicate Bridge, Antiques, NASCAR Racing Club, Golf, and LP Jazz Recording. 

Patti was a member of the Patrick Henry Descendants Branch. She attended many family reunions at his Virginia Historical Places, and his place of burial at Red Hill Patrick Henry Memorial.

She is survived by her parents, her aunt Beverly Pollock (husband Jerry); her cousins Marilyn Vines, Vickie Burdette, Bill Gunderman, Pam Stafford, Tommy Whitley, Robin Whitley, April Buffalo, Jeremy Pollock, Betsy Fischer Coxen, and Susan Culpepper Fischer Warren.

In lieu of flowers (please), the family has requested memorial donations to All Saints Episcopal Church 443 S. Hansell Street, Thomasville, GA 31792, Thomasville Humane Society, 180 Big Star Drive, Thomasville, GA 31757 or the American Cancer Society.
