Michael Harold Joyner, 75, of Havana, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Faith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Born in Chattahoochee, Florida, on December 29, 1950, Michael was the son of the late Harold and Mary Walker Joyner. Following his passion for learning, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University. During his college years, he discovered a lifelong love for music while working as a DJ, with a special place in his heart reserved for old country classics. Michael lived a life defined by service, dedication, and an adventurous spirit. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served his country with honor for 20 years. His faith remained an anchor throughout his life, and he was a member of the Chattahoochee First Baptist Church. A man of many talents and wide-ranging interests, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid gardener who took great pride in maintaining his yard and cultivating his vegetable patch. His sense of adventure led him to explore the countryside of Germany on a bicycle, and he found true exhilaration in the mountains while snow skiing and hiking. Above all, he cherished time spent with family, especially when gathered around a card table during family reunions.Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Sonja Joyner; his daughter, Christine Bachelier (and husband Gil) of Chattahoochee, FL; his brother, Al Joyner (and wife Suzanne) of Grand Ridge, FL; his two grandsons, Wyatt Bachelier of Wallis, TX, and Colby Bachelier of Chattahoochee, FL; and five great-grandchildren.
