Mike

Michael (Mike) Edgar Smith, 64 of Bainbridge, GA, passed away on May 13, 2025, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

His graveside funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Climax, GA. The family had a private viewing before the service.

Mike was born on September 1, 1960, in Clinton, South Carolina, the son of the late Cleave Smith and the late Barbara (Netherton) Smith. Mike and his family moved to Pelham, GA in 1969.

Mike graduated from Pelham High School, Class of 1978. He later attended Bainbridge College. In 1980, he moved to Bainbridge, GA, and married his wife Jeanna Whitehead. That year he started his work career at Bainbridge Filament and Yarn Plant (Amoco Fabric). He was employed there for many years until the plant closed. He then went to work at Cooper Tire in Albany, GA. He ended his work career as a gas delivery driver for Florida Rock Tank Line in Bainbridge. Mike always took much pride in being a Mason of Orion Lodge #8 F & AM, Bainbridge, GA.

Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeanna Whitehead Smith; his son Dr. Brandon A. Smith (wife Shelby); his grandchildren, Kaden Smith, Isabella Smith, and Cooper Smith; his sister Corrie Smith Bateman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kimis and Janice Whitehead; one niece and four nephews.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert M. Smith in 2024, his sisters Angelia Smith in 2019, and Cleavea Smith Lawson 2023.
