Lex Bryant

 Lex Bryant  , 91, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 after a brief illness.  He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered into eternal rest.

Lex was born on June 19, 1932 in Grady County, Georgia to Lola and Wiley Bryant.  Lex was married to Alice Holland Poppell, his devoted and loving wife, for seventy years.  He is survived by two daughters, Carol Cobb (Larry) of Piedmont, South Carolina and Patricia Hinson (John) of Jacksonville, Florida.  He is also survived by four grandchildren; Kevin Cobb, Conway, South Carolina,  Matthew Cobb (Jessie) Piedmont,South Carolina; Lisa Hinson Hagood(Emil) of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Lindsay Hinson McFarland (Ryan) of Jacksonville, Florida.  He treasured his four great granddaughters, Carissa, Katelynn, Violet Hagood and Savannah Cobb.

Lex was predeceased by his parents, Lola and Wiley Bryant, brothers Alvah, Palmer, Troy, and Ernest; sisters Thelma, Eula, and Hazel and many loving nieces and nephews.

He retired after thirty three years of employment with JTA as a city bus driver.  He enjoyed gardening, riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing and woodworking.  He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.  He had an unrivaled zest for life and loved talking to people. He never met a stranger.  He will be dearly missed by all those who loved and had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel from 12:30pm until 1:45pm.  A graveside service will follow at Concord Cemetery at 2:00pm.
