Biography

Jossie Mae Mitchell, 85, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at her home in Marianna. Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m. (CST) at Salem Free Will Baptist Church in Alford, with the burial following at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at James & Sikes Funeral Home in Marianna. The greatest joy of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three sons: Jerry Mitchell (and wife Debbie) of Groveland; Larry Mitchell (and wife Becky) of Dellwood; and Steve Mitchell (and wife Vivian) of Marianna. Four daughters: Phyllis M. Everett (and husband Jimmy) of Vernon; Beverly A. Mitchell of Marianna; Annette M. Shuemake (and husband James) of Marianna; and Edna M. Hall (and husband Scott Whitehead) of Havana. Three step-daughters: Lena Ross and, Bel Waller, both of Marianna; and Eunice Barnes (and husband Wilburn) of Columbus, GA. One brother: R.A. Griffin of Alford, and three sisters: Price Lipford of Marianna, Arthie Bauldree and Dorothy Ethridge both of Alford.
Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willie W. Mitchell, brother Frank Griffin, sister Julie Adams, step-daughter Daisy Hill, and great-granddaughter Kayla Mitchell.
