Jean Power of Havana, FL, passed away on January, 20, 2024 at The Villas at Killearn Lakes in Tallahassee, FL. She was 85 years old.
Jean was born in 1938 in Chipley, Florida, and moved to Tallahassee as a young girl with her family. She moved to Havana, Florida in 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church Havana, Auxiliary member of The Gideons International, Havana Garden Club, Quilt Guild, Wednesday Sewing Group, and Red Hat Ladies. She became a Master Gardener through the Leon County Extension Office with her yard designed to have something bloom throughout the year. She also enjoyed birdwatching, sewing, quilting, and cooking. Above all, she was devoted to her husband, two daughters, three granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.
Jean graduated from Leon High School in 1956 and completed cosmetology school at Lively Technical College in 1957. She met the love of her life, Bruce William Power Jr., when she was 18 years old. They were engaged on Valentine’s Day 1957 and married on her 19th birthday on April 25, 1957. They were married for 62 years.
She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Young Office Machines and Jim Lambert Construction where her co-workers became like family members.
The word most people used to describe Jean was sweet. She was a good listener and readily had a smile.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce; her parents, Elmeda Pettis Daniels, and Noah Daniels; her sisters, Virginia Wester, and Sharon Smith; and her brother, William “Billy” Daniels.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Gresham (Mike), and Karen Power; granddaughters, Alicia Steinbrink (Andrew), Rebecca Bultman (John), and Samantha Gresham; and her great-grandchildren Annie, Ezra, and Arlo Steinbrink, and George Bultman.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Villas at Killearn Lakes and Visiting Angels for their excellent care for our mother these past two years.
Interment will be held privately at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, Tallahassee, Florida on January 25, 2024. A memorial service will be held January 29, 2024 at 11am at Faith Funeral Home with a reception following the service.
