Dinah Jean Hutchings Miller, 94, of Havana, FL. passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, in Pensacola, FL. surrounded by her family. She was born in Tampa, FL. April 5, 1931, to Richard Moir Hutchings and Dinah Louise Lighter (died 1934) and Clara Elizabeth Turner Hutchings. Jean graduated from Tampa Plant High School and was an Alpha Delta Pi at Florida State University until she met and married Marvin William Miller (Billy) and moved to Havana. In 2020, she moved to Pensacola to be with Roy and Nancy.
Jean was a Christian and a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years, taught second grade Sunday School, delivered “Meals on Wheels,” and was active in the “United Methodist Women”. She blessed many weddings and funerals with her beautiful voice. Jean enjoyed her Wednesday bridge club, volunteering at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Florida State University football games, and entertaining the grandchildren.
Jean lovingly touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Jean is survived by her daughter, Nancy Miller Roberts and husband, Roy of Pensacola; three grandsons, Roy A. Roberts (Wendy), Will Roberts (Sydnee) of Fairhope and Matt Roberts of Fairhope, AL.; Five great-grandchildren, Kaysi (Osvaldo), Kaitlyn (Randy), Miller, Mary Katherine, and Liam; one great, great grandson, Luca; Her loving sister, Ann Moreland of Havana; special brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jan Miller of Havana. And special nieces and nephews: Bill, Betsy, Nancy A., Andy, Susan, Bill. Lenny, Miller, Jacqueline, Carolyn, Mary, Kay, and Lawson. We are forever grateful for the love and care she received at “The Blake Assisted Living” and Vitas Hospice Care.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Miller, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Hutchings. Also, brother-in-law Hugh Moreland, sister-in-law Dorothy Gregory, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Carol Miller, Margaret and Leslie Doll, and nephew Bill Miller.
The graveside funeral service will be held at Shelfer Cemetery on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends (Visitation) at Faith Funeral Home, Havana, FL, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
