James “Jim” Dewey Warner, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, November 3, 2023, at his home.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on November 9, 2023, with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 am, at Salem Methodist Church in Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association (mbara.org). Faith Funeral Home in Havana is handling arrangements (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com).
Jim was born in Quincy, Florida, on January 21, 1935, to the late Jacob Dewey Warner and Wilhelmina Jones Warner. He was married over 50 years to the late Mary Ann Butler Warner and loved her tremendously. Jim loved everything outdoors. He loved to play golf at the Havana Golf & Country Club, loved saltwater fishing at Mexico Beach and freshwater fishing on the Ochlockonee River. He was an avid FSU fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sister Mary Pat Peacock of Tallahassee; his girlfriend, Ms. Lois Avirett of Havana; his two daughters, Teresa Ann Warner and Sheri Powers (and husband Robby) of Tallahassee; four grandchildren, Nichole Stafford (and husband Shane), Jamie Holder (and wife Karen), Sarah Powers Roy (and husband Jamie) and Kayla Powers Ray (and husband Gabriel); seven great grandchildren, Nolan Meade (and wife MacKenzie), Carl Zachary Meade, Mason and Payne Holder, Stella, Kylie, and Dean Roy and many nieces and nephews.
