James Ronnie Cox, a man who lived his life guided by faith and family, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on October 4, 1945, Ronnie, as he was affectionately known, touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and kind heart.
Ronnie was a true Southern gentleman whose greatest joys were simple and profound. He treasured time spent with his family. A devoted Christian, he was a faithful attendee of his church and found deep comfort and fellowship at gospel sings. He also had a lifelong love affair with fishing, finding peace and solitude on the water.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Norman and Irene Cox, his brother Milton Cox, and his sister Juliette Anderson.
Ronnie's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved children, daughter Lisa Cox, son James Cox (Holly) and their mother Harriett Cox, stepdaughters Misty Clark (Charles) and Paula Bailey and their mother Karen Franklin. His prayer partner of nearly 30 years Elsie Carter. His legacy continues through his large and loving family, which includes eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Services
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Lake Talquin Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
A private graveside internment will be held for the family after the service.
Memorial Donations
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Ronnie’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to his heart.
