James Boynton

Biography

James M. "Jimmy" Boynton 78 of Tallahassee, died Friday, September 17, 2010. A native of Havana, FL. He was the son of the late Dr. John O. and Sarah Harris Boynton of Havana.

Mr. Boynton had raised shade tobacco for many years and entered the real estate business in 1965. He was the owner of Jimmy Boynton Realty, Inc. and developed many rural residential subdivisions in Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla Counties until his retirement in 1994.

Jimmy was an avid fisherman, hunter and sports enthusiast. He was for many years catcher for the old Havana Wrappers and Bell Builders fast pitch softball team and had fond memories of his years with the teams. In his retirement Jimmy enjoyed gardening and his two Brittany Spaniel dogs.

Mr. Boynton is survived by his wife of 59 years Barbara Boynton, a son Ben H. Boynton (Susan) of Tallahassee; two daughters Angela Boynton Cassidy of Woodville and Nora Boynton Bobek ( Marty) of Tallahassee; Two sisters Denise Home (Jimmy) of Tallahassee; Sarah Ross Helgason of Reykjavik, Iceland; One brother Clarence Robert Boynton (Genevieve) of Havana; Two sister in law, Dorothy Boynton (Mrs. Jack) of Tallahassee and Donna Warlick of Woodville; Five grandchildren Jessica Miller (Andy) of Woodville; Casey Smith (Kari) of Bristol; Garrett Bobek, Katie and Daniel Boynton all of Tallahassee and five great-grandchildren.

The Family will have visitation at Faith Funeral Home in Havana on Monday, September, 20, 2010 from 5:00 untill 7:00pm with a private funeral service at Shelfer Cemetery, at a later date.

Memorial contribution may be made to The Shelfer Cemetery Association P.O. Box 672, Havana, FL. 32333 or a charity of your choice.
