George Julian Dickey Jr.
Devoted husband, father and grandfather
Julian Dickey, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at his home in Havana, Florida with his family by his side.
Julian was born at home on February 19, 1941 in Quincy, Florida to George and Frances Dickey. Beloved brother to Ann Hughes and late Elizabeth Dickey. Graduate of Leon High School in the class of 1960. Retired from the City of Tallahassee Hopkins Power Plant after 25 years. He was an avid hunter and former member of the Crown Royal Hunting Club. You could often find him with a line in the water on the lake or in the ocean. He spent many years inspiring not only players, but also their families at the softball fields as a coach, book keeper, and fan. But what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family or friends. He was not one to sit still for very long, but if he was it was because he was watching westerns or Florida State. Julian married his beloved wife, Ruby, on April 27, 1984 at Wakulla Springs. The two celebrated their 38th anniversary this year.
Julian is survived by his wife Ruby Dickey; children, Russel Dickey (Charlene), Michelle Brady (Earl) and Ken Dickey (Julie); sister Ann Hughes (Lex); 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Julian is preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Dickey; and one sister Elizabeth Dickey.
Family, friends, and others who were touched by the life of Julian are invited to the viewing and visitation at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Faith Funeral Home in Havana, Florida. Service will follow at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee.
