Biography

Gary Yau Choy Loo was born 7 August 1935 to Sau and Annie Loo in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Gary had a older brother, Larry, and a younger sister, Luanne.  Gary spent his youth in Liliha, Kailua and Manoa attending Iolani High School (53’).  He achieved his Bachelor’s in Engineering from University of Hawaii and Masters at Stanford University.  He worked as a professional civil engineer, licensed for Hawaii, California and Florida.
Gary met the love of his life, Claudia Moon Toy Char in Hawaii.  They married on June 30, 1962 and enjoyed 53 years together.  Six children were born to them and all of them married (name of spouse): Laurie (Simon), Gerald (Debbie), Leslie (Silvia), Daniel (Alice), Lianne (Tony) and Jonathon (Charmaine).  They have ten grand children: Byron, Ryan, Alexander, Timothy, Brenton, Daisy, Gunther, Zachary, Brenan and Brion.  Claudia, the children and grand children miss him.
Gary and Claudia moved their family from Hawaii to California in 1973. Gary found work with the California State Public Utilities Commission in water rate regulation and safety.  The family settled in their South Pasadena home.  Gary and Claudia retired to Florida in 1997 settling in the town of Havana, Florida.
Gary lived a vibrant and active life enjoying fishing, home improvement (DIY), card and board games.  He deeply cared about people and shared his wisdom, knowledge and experience as a mentor, advisor and counselor.
As a devoted Christian, Gary believed in Jesus Christ and served Him in love.  When asked about the most influential book of his life - Gary staunchly said it was the Bible, the inerrant word of God.
As a deacon, he served and touched the lives of many.  In his last message to his congregation January 9, Gary encouraged all to seek Jesus Christ - the oasis of living water in our wilderness.
Gary was poured out, prepared us for his departure, fought the good fight, finished his course and kept the faith like Paul the Apostle (2 Tim. 4:6-8).
On January 14, 2016, after a brief illness, Gary's Heavenly Father called him to rest in Jesus Christ until the resurrection (1 Thes. 4:13-18, 1 Cor. 15: 54-55).
