Havana – Elmo Joe Johnson, 89, died Friday, February 10, 2006 in Tallahassee. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am EST, Monday at Concordia Baptist Church in Concord. Burial will be at Vickers Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm EST at the funeral home. Faith Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements. or www.faithfuneralhome.com
Mr. Johnson was born December 6, 1916 in Concord, FL. He graduated from Havana High School and married Lois Elkins on January 1, 1939. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a farmer and in the insurance business for many years. In his later years, he was co-owner of Hercules Fence Builders with his son, Mike, until his retirement. He was a member and deacon of Concordia Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school for many years in addition to serving as president of the Brotherhood. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois W. Johnson. Other survivors include a daughter, Sonja Bumpers (and husband, Bennie) of Birmingham, AL
A son, Joe Johnson of Tallahassee, and a son Mike Johnson (and wife Rose Marie) of Havana. Three grandsons, Doug Bumpers of Birmingham, Shawn Bumpers (and wife Christy) of Kernersville, NC, and Chad Johnson of Tallahassee; two granddaughters Kim Johnson of Davis, WV and Kelli Johnson of Havana. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws Willie Mae Johnson of Chattahoochee and Margie Johnson of Tallahassee
.He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Margaret Johnson and two brothers Willard and Albert Johnson
