David Richard Perkins, 82, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026. He was born on March 29, 1944, to the late Guy Lamar Perkins and Maddie Causey Perkins in Concord, Florida, affectionately known to many as “Coon Bottom.”

David was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Pauline Perkins and his brothers, Guy Neal Perkins and Riley Perkins. He is survived by his brothers, Alan Perkins and Irvin Perkins; his sister, Dianne Maxwell; his son, David Perkins Jr. and wife Tammy; his daughter, Kimberly Williams and husband Jerry; his grandchildren, Brandon Perkins and wife Lacy, Dallas Perkins and wife Caitlyn, Sheldon Ferrell and wife Stephanie, and Haylee Ferrell; and his great-grandchildren, Brooks, Beau, and Dale Perkins. A lifelong resident of North Florida, David graduated from Havana High School in 1962 before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University in December 1965. He passed the Certified Public Accountant examination in February 1969 and dedicated many years of service to the State of Florida through the Auditor General’s Office and Comptroller's Office, where he worked for twenty years. In 1986, he fulfilled his dream of opening his own CPA business and faithfully served his community through his profession for many years.

David deeply loved his family and treasured the time spent with them. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to Florida State football. He also enjoyed fishing and was a proud member of the Quincy Bassmasters. One of his greatest joys was traveling annually to a Canadian fish camp with a special group of friends for more than twenty years. His love for travel took him across the world, including memorable trips as far away as Australia.
