David E. Corlett, one of the greatest generation, passed away early Sunday morning June 3 at Hospice House. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1926 to parents who had immigrated from the Isle of Mann in the early 1900's. After serving in the Navy, he attended Whittenberg University in Ohio, receiving a degree in education. With his first wife Betty he moved to Pinellas County where they raised three sons, Scott, Randy, and Jeff. David was proud of his sons; Scott is a master mechanic working for Verizon, Randy is a Sgt. with the Pinellas Sheriff's Dept., and Jeff is an educator in Long Island. After the death of his first wife, David married Jenny Collins and they moved to Tallahassee in 1990 where David retired from the parts dept of Sears. After retirement he worked for Elder Care Services. David and Jenny celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in January 2012. David was a member of Capital City Christian Church where he worshipped until his health declined. In addition to Jenny, David is survived by his sons and four grandchildren, Randy Allen, Jacob, Hailie, and Reily . He is also survived by two step daughters, Diane Collins and Debbie Colvin and three step grandchildren, A.J. Colvin, Casey Collins, and Camille Prater plus a great granddaughter, Savannah Bruch. There will be no formal service. For those who knew David, please remember him with happy memories and a thankful heart that he is at rest.
