Carolyn Stephens Wallace

Carolyn, 66, passed away on April 7, 2016, while at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. Surrounded by family, Carolyn peacefully ended her battle with cancer.

Although she was born in Pensacola, Carolyn spent most of her life in Tallahassee and attended Leon High School. Carolyn lived many years on Collins Landing Road before retiring to St. Teresa, FL. She had a career as a licensed insurance agent and agency manager.

Carolyn’s biggest joy in life was loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. Animals were always close to her heart as she raised many cats, dogs and even the occasional pig. Her famous Puff kittens were adopted prior to their birth and Puff’s descendants still survive to date.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Stephens, Sr., her mother, Dorothy Echols Stephens and her brother, Johnnie Stephens, Jr. She is survived by her children, Tracy Wallace Johnson, Johnnie "Jay" Wallace and Jesse Wallace, Jr. along with her two sisters, Peggy Stephens (David) Workman of Tallahassee and Deborah Stephens (Lyle) Kuper of South Carolina.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at Lake Talquin State Park (formerly River Bluff), 14850 Jack Vause Landing Road, Tallahassee, FL 32310 from Noon until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 . Carolyn filled our lives with laughter. Please join us for food and fellowship and let’s share her laughter again.

In lieu of flowers, tributes to Carolyn may be made to Big Bend Hospice House or the American Cancer Society. Roselawn Cemetery will hold Carolyn’s memorial stone at the Stephens gravesite corner.
