Arthur “Darryl” Hood, 61, passed away on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at his residence.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Faith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
He is survived by his loving mother, Maydell Hood; his daughter, Evie Van Rijs (Scott); his son, Kristopher Hood (Lindsay); his five cherished grandchildren, Kinleigh Williams, Weston Hood, Brenley Hood, Luke Van Rijs and Lincoln Van Rijs; and his nine siblings, Lamar Hood, James Hood, Betty Swain, Eddie Hood, Joyce Hawkins, Janice Clark, Dewayne Hood, Doyle Hood, and Pam Hood; and a host of extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Hood.
Darryl will be remembered as one of the hardest-working men his family knew. He was a Merita Bread salesman and supervisor for around 15 years, USPS rural carrier for over 10 years, owned his own lawncare and firewood business, and was most recently employed by one. He loved deeply, especially when it came to his children and grandchildren. He was the kind of father every child hopes to have. He was present, devoted, and endlessly loving. His daughter proudly considered herself a Daddy's girl, and his son shared a bond with him that was inseparable.
Nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He also shared a lifelong bond with his brother, who was not only his best friend but a constant source of love, support, and strength throughout his life.
Those who loved him will remember his large personality, always down for a celebration, joking and cutting up, and being typical Darryl; his unwavering love for his family; and the countless memories they shared together. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering through the pains of the world and is healed and renewed in Heaven.
